We love this brand and this chocolate mix (we are a chocolate flavor kind of family and I can honestly say I have never had the vanilla, but I'm sure it's great to mix with frozen fruits... mmm). What's important to us is not only what's IN this shake, but what's NOT IN it as well. It's healthy and affordable for what you get in return. The best way to prepare (so you don't have clumps) is a small personal blender. Something like the Oster Personal Blender (found on ) or the Ninja Bullet, etc. ((They seem to be the most practical choice for making smoothies in our home.)) Mix with a handful of ice, some milk/almond milk... a banana, peanut butter, squeeze of honey, chai seeds, ground flax, etc. We have even put a tbsp of organic instant coffee for a yummy "chocolate mocha frappe" breakfast smoothie. The possibilities are endless and yet all yummy. If you do not have access to a blender when you prepare, invest in a handheld mixer. has several that are affordable. It will make all the difference! When it comes to the reviews about it "being half full", the container is larger than the product, yes. However you can see from the image that you ARE getting the exact weight promised.I know how important reviews are when making decisions so I hope this helps. And because honest reviews are the most helpful, you can rest assured I have not been compensated in any form for my input.
After I got cancer I spent a lot of time looking at triggers or causes for it since it was a one in a million chance to get it. A very common theme is whey proteins and casein protein increasing the rate of cancer cell formation. Essentially they trigger the growth. I got to thinking maybe I am having too much in my diet, so I went through my cabinet of different powders and shakes. Well most anything that isn’t organic and all plant based is nothing but Whey. While searching for a non animal based powder I stumbled upon this whole meal powder. I took the plunge and got the large one in chocolate. This is the best powder I have found so far. I mix it with one other veggie based powder so I can use it up since the other brand isn’t as nice as this. This powder is really fine, and isn’t gritty at all. I was really surprised at how well it mixes with juice, odwalla, water, soy milk, and fruit. It blends together seamlessly and doesn’t get all chunky. My favorite part is how healthy it is and that it doesn’t have any animal products in it. I have been slowly moving away from animal products over the last few years to lessen my carbon footprint and not impact global warming as much. (If you can’t tell I am from Nor. Cal. And am a tree hugging millennial). The worst thing for our globe is the incredibly large amount of animal products and meats we consume. The mass AG Farms have been the greatest contributors to the environmental destruction causing global warming, more so than oil by far. By eating less meat or no meat I feel like at least I am making a tiny impact to better the earth. And by tiny I mean freaking Itty Bitty but hey everything helps right?Pro:- Mixes amazingly well with other powders and fruit- Tastes great, not yucky like other brands- Not gritty at all- Fills you up- Is animal free and lactose free- Scoop actually has a long handle so you can reach in the jar and get what you needCons:- Haven’t found any yet
This tastes way better than I expected. I started off with the Organic Meal powder mixed with almond milk in my nutribullet blender and it tasted really good. It kept me full for a little bit but not as long as I wanted. I went ahead and ordered the superfood powder Orgain Organic Superfoods, Original, 0.62 Pound, 1 Count and now I am mixing it with the organic meal and it keeps me full for hours.I was surprised I ate a banana and a shake and made it all the way to dinner without even thinking about food. The organic meal tastes really good, kind of like Ovaltine. When you add in the superfood powder it gives it a sort of cinnamon aftertaste. It is interesting at first but it is actually not bad once you get to drinking it. It is not gritty or grassy tasting. It keeps me full and the two mixed together give a huge dose of nutrition. Good stuff!!
First things first: This is a shake meal replacement. A shake. Not eggs, bacon, and sausage. So for those complaining about taste, they most likely have never had a healthy shake option before.I have tried multiple protein, meal replacement shakes, etc. The only one that I have ever liked the taste of was from Shaklee. The problem there? It is a mid-level marketing company, so everything is 3x the price. The Orgain Organic meal replacement shake is the only shake I have had other than Shaklee that DOES NOT taste gritty. This shake tastes great.I am so happy that my wife and I found this. We are no longer going to have to spend 3x the money for Shaklee. Now we can buy Orgain brand for the same quality at a fraction of the cost. Thank you subscribe and save! Love it.My two favorite recipes:1 Bananna, 1 TBLS of Peanut Butter, 2 Scoops of Orgain Vanilla Bean shake mix, 1 Cup of Almond Milk, 4 Ice cubes1 Bannana, 4 Frozen Strawberries, 2 Scoops of Orgain Vanilla Bean shake mix, 1 Cup of Almond Milk
I am a sugarholic and this has a great taste. I put 1/2 frozen banana and a scoop of PB2 with it and it tastes like a legit milkshake!
